Linguistic equations and their hardware realisation in image analysis

In this paper, a new application for the Linguistic Equation method is presented. Developed mainly for industrial process control system, this method has been successfully applied to the processing of digital information. In particular in the field of image analysis a noise suppression algorithm has been developed. In order to evaluate its performances this filtering algorithm has been tested with some images. The results are presented both for allow the comparison with other filtering methods, and highlight the main advantages and future developments of this kind of processing approach. Then, a general hardware system for Linguistic Equation applications is presented, with particular regard to the noise reduction application. This one seems to be a very useful application of the Linguistic Hardware System, since in the resulting hardware plan a lot of simplifications are allowed.
