TiivistelmäKolorektaalisyöpä on miesten eturauhassyövän ja naisten rintasyövän jälkeen yleisin syöpäsairaus Suomessa. Se todetaan usein myöhäisessä vaiheessa, jolloin sairastuneiden mahdollisuudet selviytyä ovat huonot. Seulonnalla syöpä voidaan todeta varhain, jolloin kuolleisuutta sairauteen voidaan vähentää 10–40 %. Miehillä kolorektaalisyöpäkuolleisuuden väheneminen seulonnan myötä on ollut keskimäärin suurempaa kuin naisilla. see all
AbstractColorectal cancer is the most common cancer in Finland after prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women. It is often found at a late stage, when patients have poor chances of surviving. Screening can detect early colorectal cancer, whereby disease mortality can be reduced by 10 to 40 %. On the average, the reduction in colorectal cancer mortality due to screening has been higher in men than in women. In 2019, colorectal cancer screening was resumed in voluntary municipalities in Finland, where people aged 60 to 66 are called for screening. Screening is gradually expanding to its target group, i.e. men and women aged 60 to 74. An immunochemical stool blood test which is widely used in other parts of Europe is being used in the screening. The effectiveness of screening is regularly monitored and special attention is paid to gender differences. Volunteer municipalities are welcomed to participate in the screening. see all
