AbstractThe assessment of future business models’ performance deviates from that of existing business models. This paper investigates and develops a framework to approach the assessment of future business models by looking at the expected outcomes of business models: scalability, replicability, and economic, environmental, and societal stainability. The framework is applied to a single case study of a port that is developing, based on 5G connectivity and data platform, novel digital business models. The analysis indicates that scalability and replicability stemming from data and the use of artificial intelligence influence especially economic and environmental sustainability. The paper contributes to our understanding on the relationships between and emergence of scalability, replicability and sustainability in the context of future business models. see all
