Tiivistelmä

Kotikuntoutusmalleilla vastataan ikääntyneiden kasvavaan palveluntarpeeseen. Niissä kotihoidon henkilökunta työskentelee kuntoutusalan ammattilaisten kanssa kotikuntoutusasiakkaiden toimintakyvyn edistämiseksi. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli kuvata henkilökunnan kokemuksia kotikuntoutusmallista kotihoidossa. Aineisto kerättiin esseemuotoisilla kirjoitelmilla syksyllä 2020 erään Pohjois-Pohjanmaan alueen kaupungin kotihoidon henkilökunnalta (n=11). Aineisto analysoitiin induktiivisella sisällönanalyysilla. Kotihoidon henkilökunnan kokemukset liittyivät tiedonsaantiin ja perehdytykseen, osaamiseen ja omaan rooliin, työskentelyn tukeen ja ilmapiiriin, resursseihin sekä kotikuntoutusmallin toimivuuteen ja merkittävyyteen. Perehdytys oli osin puutteellista kuten myös tiedonsaanti asiakkaista. Toimiminen kotikuntoutusmallin mukaisesti laajensi osaamista ja muutti työntekotapaa ikääntyneen yksilöllisyyttä ja voimavaralähtöisyyttä korostavaan suuntaan. Työyhteisö ja moniammatillisuus tarjosi tukea, mutta esimiehen tuki ja palaute oli vähäistä. Resurssit vaihtelivat ja niiden vaikutus oli merkittävä. Kotihoidon henkilökunta koki kotikuntoutusmallin hyväksi ja toimivaksi kokonaisuudeksi, johon sitoutuminen lisää työn mielekkyyttä. Tutkimustuloksia voidaan hyödyntää kotikuntoutusmallien kehittämisessä siten, että niissä huomioidaan kotihoidon henkilökunnan rooli ja osaaminen laaja-alaisemmin. Tutkimustulosten avulla voidaan myös edistää kotihoidon henkilökunnan työhyvinvointia.

Abstract

Experiences of home care staff acting in accordance with the reablement model

Reablement models are essential in responding to the growing needs of the ageing population. In reablement models, home care staff work together with rehabilitation professionals to promote the functional capacity of older adults. The purpose of the study was to describe the experiences of home care staff acting in accordance with the reablement model. The data was collected with essays from the home care staff (n=11) in autumn 2020 in one of the cities of Northern Ostrobothnia. The data were analyzed with inductive content analysis. The experiences of home care staff consisted of access to information and orientation to the model, competence and role in the action, support and work atmosphere, resources as well as the functionality and significance of the reablement model. There was a lack of instruction and guidance to the reablement model, as well as accessing to information regarding the clients. Working in accordance with the reablement model built the competence of home care staff and changed the way of working to be based on resources and individuality of older home care clients. Support was received from the work community and multidisciplinary action, but the support and feedback from managers was found minor. Resources varied and were indentified as having a significant influence on work. Reablement model was perceived to be good and functional as a whole. Home care staff were committed to work in the model and found it to increase their job satisfaction. The results can be used in the development of reablement models to take into account the role and competence of home care staff more than at present. The results can also be used developing home care staff’s well-being at work.
