Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on kuvata ikääntyneen muistisairaan toimintakyvyn tunnistamiseen liittyvää osaamista ja siihen liittyviä haasteita nimikesuojattujen kotihoidon hoitajien kuvaamana. Tavoitteena on tuottaa tietoa ikääntyneen muistisairaan hoitotyöstä ja hyödyntää tietoa kotihoidon hoitotyön kehittämisessä. Ikääntyneen muistisairaan hoitotyön painopiste on nykypäivänä kotona tapahtuva hoitotyö ja erityisesti kotiin annettavien palvelujen tuottaminen. Kotihoidon tulee luoda edellytykset ikääntyneen muistisairaan kokonaisvaltaisen hoitotyön toteutuksen, tarpeiden ja laadukkaan hoidon vastaamiselle. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin ikääntyneen muistisairaan toimintakyvyn tunnistaminen ja osaaminen kotihoidon hoitajien hoitotyön menetelmien käyttöä ja niiden vaikutuksia ikääntyneen muistisairaan hoitotyön osaamisessa. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin kyselylomakkeella avoimilla kysymyksillä (n=3) kotihoidon nimikesuojatuilta hoitajilta tammi-helmikuussa 2016. Kyselylomake lähetettiin 105 hoitajalle. Vastausprosentti oli 28 (n= 29). Aineisto analysoitiin aineistolähtöisellä sisällön analyysillä. Kotihoidon hoitajat kuvasivat ikääntyneen muistisairaan toimintakyvyn tunnistamiseen liittyvät osaamistarpeet, tunnistamisessa käytetyt keinot ja menetelmät, toimintakyvyn tekemiseen liittyvät tekijät ja ikääntyneen muistisairaan toimintakyvyn tunnistamiseen liittyvät hoitotyön haasteet. Tutkimustuloksia voidaan hyödyntää kotihoidon hoitotyössä hoitajien osaamisen, kotihoidon työmenetelmien sekä hoitotyön koulutuksen kehittämisessä. Kotihoidon näkökulmasta hyvin suunnitellulla, toteutetulla, tunnistavalla ja tietoon perustuvalla ikääntyneen muistisairaan hoitotyöllä voidaan vaikuttaa kotihoidon hoitajien työn sisältöön sekä laadun parantamiseen.

Purpose of research is to describe the know-how of recognizing an aged memory disordered person’s ability to function and the challenges described by authorized home care nurses. The aim is to produce information about care of an aged memory disordered person and to use the knowledge for developing of home care. The focus on care of the aged memory disordered person is nowadays on the care at home and especially on producing the services for home. Homecare must create the requirements of responding to comprehensive fulfill, needs and quality care of the aged memory disordered person. Recognizing and knowing the aged memory disordered person’s ability to function, the use of methods of care by home care nurses and the affections in the know-how of caring the aged memory disordered person were clarified in the research. Research material was collected in a question form by three open questions from authorized nurses of homecare in January-February 2016. The question form was sent to 105 nurses. Response rate was 28. Material was analyzed by inductive content analysis. Competence needs, the ways and methods to recognize, the factors of functioning and the challenges of know-how in recognizing the aged memory disordered person’s ability to function were described by home care nurses. The results of the research can be used in home care work to develop the know-how of the nurses, methods and in the care education. In a home care point of view, a wellplanned, executed, recognized and knowledge-based care of the aged memory disordered person can affect the content and the elevation of quality for the work of home care nurses.
