Abstract The goal of this thesis is to explain how bound water in the articular cartilage can be studied by using methods of NMR spectroscopy. This thesis introduces the structure of articular cartilage, basic principles of NMR and NMR cryoporometry experiments carried out with human cartilage and gel samples modelling the structure of cartilage. Tiivistelmä Tämän tutkielman tavoitteena on kertoa, kuinka nivelrustoon sitoutunutta vettä voidaan tutkia NMR-spektroskopian menetelmillä. Tässä tutkielmassa käsitellään nivelruston rakennetta, NMR:n perusperiaatteita sekä nivelruston kokeellista tutkimusta NMR-kryoporometria-menetelmällä. see all
