Tiivistelmä

Diplomityöni, Taiteilijakylä keraamikoille Posion Kirintövaaralle, on suunnitelmapainotteinen työ, joka sisältää kuudelle Posion Kirintövaaralle kaavoitetulle tontille suunnitelmat keramiikkataiteilijoille suunnatuista asuin- ja studiotiloista. Suunnittelutyön tilaajana toimi Posion kunta. Varsinainen suunnittelutyö ajoittui vuoden 2019 syyskuusta joulukuuhun, jonka jälkeen kokosin suunnitelmasta diplomityön täydentäen suunnitteludokumentteja sekä lisäämällä työhön kirjallisen osuuden.

Olen valinnut tietoisesti olla muuttamatta arkkitehtisuunnitelmaa diplomityötäni varten, sillä halusin ottaa suunnitteluprosessin tilaajan kanssa osaksi diplomityötäni — onhan todennäköistä, että itsenäisesti alusta alkaen työstettynä lopputulema olisi ollut hyvin toisenlainen. Tilaaja on ollut vahvasti osana suunnitteluprosessia määritellen tietynlaiset raamit suunnittelutyölle; muun muassa budjettiajattelu oli suunnittelutyössä mukana ja lisäksi tilaajalla oli myös tiettyjä toiveita rakennusten arkkitehtuurista.

Myös kaava oli alueella melko tiukka, eikä siitä ollut mahdollista poiketa. Se määritteli muun muassa rakennusten laajuuden, värityksen, kerrosluvun ja tiettyjä ulkoasullisia seikkoja, kuten kattokulman. Olen kuitenkin tyytyväinen työni lopputulokseen, sillä se on mielestäni onnistunut lopputulema kaikkien niiden raamien puitteissa, jotka sille lähtötilanteessa asetettiin. Koen, että tämä oli ylipäätään minulle tärkeä prosessi ikään kuin siirtymävaiheena opiskeluelämästä työelämään.

Diplomityössäni esittelen ehdotuksen, joka sisältää viisi erilaista rakennustyyppiä, jotka määrittyvät kunkin tontin rakennusoikeuden sekä tontin sijoittumisen ja maaston mukaan. Tontit sijaitsevat Kirintövaaran huipulla, jossa maaston korkeusvaihtelut ovat melko suuria. Rinteestä avautuu näkymä Kitkajärvelle sekä posiolaiseen mäntymetsikköön, ja nämä seikat ovat määrittäneet rakennusten sijoittumisen ja suuntautumisen tontille. Maiseman ottaminen mukaan arkkitehtuuriin ja tilakokemukseen koettiin ensiarvoisen tärkeänä lähtökohtana suunnittelulle. Muita tärkeitä lähtökohtia olivat ekologisuus, rakennusten pitkäaikaiskestävyys ja ympäröivän luonnon säilyttäminen mahdollisuuksien mukaan. Myös arkkitehtuurin istuminen ympäristöönsä ja vallitseviin sääolosuhteisiin koettiin tärkeäksi.

Ceramic artist village in Kirintövaara, Posio

Abstract

The Maseter’s thesis, “Ceramic artist village in Kirintövaara, Posio” includes architectural plan of ceramic residence and studio spaces for six plots in Kirintövaara, Posio. The designing work has been commissioned by the municipality of Posio. The designing project in Posio started in September 2019 and lasted until December 2019. After the working period in Posio, I collected the work and put it into the diploma thesis by adding literary section and supplementing the design documents.

I made a conscious choice to not chance an architectural design to my diploma work, because I wanted to take the process with the client part of my thesis — after all it is obvious, that if I had been designing the project from the beginning by myself, the result would have been somehow different. By this I do not mean that it would have been better, but different, because the customer was obviously part of the designing process with it’s own needs, thoughts and opinions. Also there were some limits for the building budget. Kirintövaara’s area plan also had some limits for the plan, for instance for the colour, height and extent of the buildings. This is how the process was different from my recent school projects, because for the first time I had a real client and I found it very instructive to start the project with conversations of the real needs. Also it was easier for myself as a designer to put into words what I think and how I see my ideas and sketches. After all I am contented with the result of the design process.

In this diploma thesis I introduce a design, that includes five different building types for ceramic studio and residence spaces. In all, there are five residence buildings, five studio buildings, two buildings that include both and also four small grill huts. The plots are located on top of the Kirintövaara hill and the view to the pine tree forest and Kitkajärvi-lake is really beautiful from there. Therefore the view and the nature made the most important basis for the architectural design and I wanted to take them part of the interior plan with wide windows and natural materials. The local nature is the most important inspiration for the artists who work in Posio. The other important basis for the plan was ecological aspect in building materials and also in the site plan, as I wanted to keep the nature as untouchable as possible. Also I found important, that the architecture fits into the environment and local building tradition.
