Tiivistelmä

Lean ja 5S ovat yleistyneet yhä useammassa yrityksessä ja etenkin isojen kokoonpanotuotantoa tekevien tehtaiden yhteydessä nämä ovat hyvinkin merkittävässä roolissa. Kuitenkin Leanin ja 5S:n ylläpitämisessä on erilaisia haasteita ja ongelmia ja niitä onkin hyvä tutkia ja pohtia mahdollisia ratkaisuja.

Työssäni tutkin leanin ja 5S:n käyttöönottamista, implementointia ja ylläpitoa sekä niiden haasteita. Teen tutkimukseni kirjallisuuskatsauksena sekä omien työkokemuksieni pohjalta. Kirjallisuuskatsaus tuo esille aikaisemmat aiheeseen liittyvät tutkimukset ja tuon esille niistä löytyviä aiheeseen liittyviä asioita. Omat kokemukseni taas pohjautuvat kahteen aikaisempaan kesätyöhöni, jossa työskentelin tämän tutkimuksen aiheen parissa. Pohdin lopussa miten kirjallisuuskatsaus ja oma kokemukseni kohtaavat ja pohdin näiden kahden asian yhteyksiä.

Kirjallisuuskatsauksen ja omat kokemukseni tulokset ovat hyvin yhteneväisiä. Ylläpitämisen isoimmat haasteet ovat johdon ja työntekijöiden sitoutumattomuus, työntekijöiden palkitsematta jättäminen sekä ajatus, että Lean ja 5S ovat vain kasa työkaluja.

Tutkimukseni lopputuloksia voi hyvin hyödyntää ennaltaehkäisevänä toimena Leanin ja 5S:n ylläpitämisessä. Nämä asiat on hyvä esimerkiksi tiedostaa jos Leanin kulttuuria ollaan implementoimassa yritykseen.

Sustaining Lean and 5S in assemble-to-order manufacturing

Abstract

Lean and 5S have become more and more common in companies especially big assemble-to-order factories these methodologies are in a important role. But still there are difficulties in sustaining Lean and 5S and it is good to inspect these problems and think of possible solutions.

In my research I inspect Lean and 5S and the difficulties that are faced when sustaining and implementing them. I do my research in a literature review and also reflect my own experiences on working with these subjects. The literature review brings up previous researches about these topics. My own experiences on the other half are based on two previous summers when I worked in a factory among these subjects. In the end part I will discuss how the literature review and my own experience meet and I ponder the connections between the two.

The results of the literature review and my own experiences are very similar. The biggest challenges are the lack of commitment from management and workers, not rewarding workers and the taught of thinking Lean and 5S are just a set of tools.

The results of my research can be used as precautionary actions when sustaining Lean and 5S. These findings are good to recognize for example when starting to implement Lean and 5S into a company.
