Tiivistelmä Tässä tutkielmassa käydään läpi James Chadwickin koe, joka oli ensimmäinen varsinainen kokeellinen todistus neutronin olemassaolosta. Ennen sitä johdetaan muutama mekaniikkaan ja säteilyfysiikkaan liittyvä yhtälö lähtien yleisistä fysiikan laeista, joita tarvitaan Chadwickin perustelujen selittämiseen. Tämän jälkeen käydään tiivistetysti läpi kaksi pari vuotta aiemmin tehtyä koetta, joihin Chadwickin tekemän kokeen asettelu perustuu. see all
