Tiivistelmä

Tämän kandidaatintyön aiheena on FMCW-autotutkan toimintaan perehtyminen. Työssä käydään läpi autotutkien historiaa ja nykytilannetta, selitetään FMCW-tutkan toimintaperiaate ja edut muihin tutkatyyppeihin verrattuna, ja suoritetaan kokeellinen mittaus tutkan kulmaresoluution arvioimiseksi.

Mittaus suoritettiin liikuttamalla kahta samanlaista pesupalloa kauemmas toisistaan, kunnes ne näkyivät selvästi kahtena eri kohteena tutkaohjelmistossa. Pesupallojen välisen etäisyyden perusteella saatiin laskettua kulmaresoluutio.

Measuring the angular resolution of an FMCW automotiver radar

Abstract

The topic of this bachelor’s thesis is to explore the working principles of an FMCW automotive radar. The thesis goes through the past and present of automotive radars, explains how FMCW radars work, and points out its advantages over other radar types. A measurement is also conducted to determine the value of the angular resolution of the radar.

The measurement was carried out by moving two identical detergent dosing balls farther away from each other until they were clearly seen as two distinct targets in the software. The distance between these detergent dosing balls was used to calculate the angular resolution.
