Tiivistelmä

Kasvavan kulutuksen ja luonnonvarojen liikakäytön myötä kiertotalous on noussut merkittävään rooliin tulevaisuuden haasteiden ratkaisemiseksi. Tässä kandidaatin työssä tarkasteltiin kirjallisuusselvityksenä kiertotalouden mittaamista ja perehdyttiin tarkemmin yhteen yritystasolla yleisesti tunnettuun kiertotalouden mittariin (Circulytics). Mittarin tarkastelu tapahtui yrityksen näkökulmasta, ja työssä käytiin läpi työkalun keskeisimmät osa-alueet ja käyttökohteet. Kirjallisuuskatsaus koottiin käyttäen kirjallisuutta ja verkkolähteitä. Tässä kandidaatintyössä tuodaan esille kiertotalouden mittaamisen kannalta keskeisimmät käsitteet ja niiden merkitys kiertotaloudelle.

Kirjallisuusselvityksessä nousi esille kiertotalouden mittaamisen laajuus sekä moniulotteisuus. Kiertotalouden mittaamisen haasteiksi ilmeni mitattavan alueen rajaus ja seuranta sekä mittareiden soveltuvuus eri tasoille. Mittaamisen todettiin olevan keskeisessä osassa kiertotalouden toteutumista, sekä kestävän kehityksen tavoitteiden saavuttamista. Mittaamisen haasteiksi ilmeni sopivan mittarin valitseminen mitattavaan kohteeseen ja tulosten selkeä esittäminen.

Measuring circular economy

Abstract

The circular economy, with its growing consumption and the oversupply of natural resources, has emerged as an important tool to meet the challenges of the future. The bachelor’s thesis examined in the literature survey on the measurement of circular economy and a more detailed examination of a commonly known circular economy measure (Circulytics) at enterprise level. The measurement was carried out from the perspective of the enterprise, and the main areas and targets of the work were analyzed. The literature review was compiled from the literature and online resources. This bachelor’s thesis will highlight the key concepts for measuring the circular economy and their relevance to the circular economy.

The literature review highlighted the scope and multidimensionality of circular economy measurement. The challenges in measuring the circular economy were the delimitation of the area to be measured and the monitoring of the suitability of the indicators at different levels. Measurement was found to be a central part of achieving the circular economy, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals. The challenges of measuring appeared to be choosing a suitable meter for the object to be measured and to present the results clearly.
