Tiivistelmä

Kandidaatintyössäni vertailen erilaisia lyhyen matkan langattoman kommunikaation metodeja kirjallisesti ja käytännössä vertailen Bluetoothia ja WLAN:ia. Työssäni on teoriaosuus, tutkimusosuus ja lopuksi johtopäätökset.

Teoriaosuudessa käyn läpi yleisesti langatonta kommunikaatiota ja sen toimintaa. Sen jälkeen syvennyn eri metodeihin ja niiden toimintoihin ja ominaisuuksiin.

Tutkimuksessa tarkoituksena on yhdistää älypuhelin kannettavaan tietokoneeseen ja mitata metodien tiedonsiirtonopeutta. Ideana on käyttää kahta eri metodia ja ottaa huomioon niiden hyvät ja heikot puolet ja lopuksi verrata niitä toisiinsa.

Comparing short-range wireless communication methods

Abstract

In my bachelor’s thesis, I will compare various short-range wireless communication methods theoretically. I will also compare Bluetooth and WLAN in practice. The thesis consists of three parts: the theoretical background, research section and finally conclusions.

In the theoretical background, I discuss wireless communication in general and its functioning. After that, I delve into different methods, their functionalities, and characteristics.

The research part involves connecting a smartphone to a laptop and measuring the data transfer speed of different methods. The idea is to use two different methods, considering their strengths and weaknesses, and finally, compare them with each other.
